We understand that every child’s situation is different. Our role is to listen first, build trusted relationships, and work together to remove the barriers that can make getting to school hard.
Our approach is grounded in Te Ako Manaaki, a relational, strengths-based framework used across Aotearoa that focuses on connection, wellbeing, and practical support to help rangatahi re-engage with education in ways that work for them and their whānau.
Ngā Ratonga Tautoko is delivered locally by NorthAble Matapuna Hauora, in partnership with schools and the wider community.

Our team based throughout Whangārei and the Kaipara work within and across schools in our region.
We work alongside schools, students, families, social services and other agencies in identifying barriers to attendance finding practical solutions and coordinating support to help young people stay connected to education and learning.

Support students aged between 6 – 16 experiencing attendance challenges.

Work alongside whānau and schools to understand what is going on.

We support ākonga / students and their whānau to access and stay engaged in education by helping remove the barriers that get in the way.
Your voice matters. By working together, we ensure you and your family receive the support needed to help your young person attend, engage, and succeed at school.
We provide additional support when significant attendance concerns emerge.
We work collaboratively with schools to ensure students return to school and learning in a way that is sustainable for the student and the school.
